Chiaroscuro 2021-2024

I pressed forward with this motif. A motif of self-discovery and the playfulness of youth.

I held the sculpture like a child with an action figure, imagining it leaping and running through the world. I reached back to the wonder of being alive as a child, discovering the sensations of existence. Sometimes I find that feeling; sometimes I don’t. But occasionally, everything aligns, and I look up and realize I was part of the universe for a moment. The painting is just a byproduct of that.

One perspective I often draw from is a world without pain. What would you create if there were no weeds or war?

These paintings are an attempt at that. Just a moment, a diary entry, I suppose.
